Videogame hacker punished by company — with his character’s public execution

After multiple reports that a player was using hacks to easily win player-versus-player battles in Guild Wars 2, game maker ArenaNet came to the only logical conclusion: execution.

This involved a public stripping, and forced suicide for the character within the game. Behind the scenes, ArenaNet was deleting the character completely, along with the hacker’s other accounts, from the server.

It was just composed of 0s and 1s, of course — but this strange form of capital punishment sent no less of a message for it

‘The Lego Movie Videogame’ brings the big screen to iOS

iPhone and iPad gamers can shout “Everything is awesome!” on Thursday when The Lego Movie Videogame launches in the Apple App Store.

Just like in the 2014 movie, the game stars unremarkable Emmett as he journeys to find the Kragle and save the Lego universe from staying in eternal stasis. It’s developed by TT Games, the team behind the other popular Lego gaming hybrids like Lego Star Wars and Lego The Hobbit.

The game has 45 levels and features 90 characters from the movie, including Batman, Superman and Gandalf. It has two types of control options for touch screens and supports iOS-compatible controllers. Read more…
