Share

While you might think cooking pasta in the microwave is blasphemy, it works great when you’re hungry and want something super easy. Just add some time to the recommended boiling time on the box.

This video from HouseholdHacker demonstrates the easiest way you’ll ever make pasta (the tip starts at the 2:23 mark) . Get a microwave safe bowl and add pasta with enough water to cover it. See what the suggested cook time is on the pasta box or package and add three minutes to it. After it’s done cooking, drain the excess water, add whatever you want to it, and you’re all set. This is especially great if you don’t have access to a stove. It may not be the proper way to cook it, but sometimes you just need an easy meal.

If you just pop a plate of onions in the microwave, they’re not going to brown. He adds some brown sugar along with some butter for color and flavor. He also adds some baking soda, which speeds up the browning process on the stove as well.
