The long awaited drum-off between the Anchorman actor, 46, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers rocker happened last night on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon. “We’re going to have a drum-off to see who the real Chad Smith is,” Smith said, in reference to the fake that Ferrell is his celebrity doppelganger. “I’m ready to take him down.”
Ferrell did not rehearse, which is imaginable that it would not turn out well for the actor seeing as he’s facing a professional musician. However the actor was in good spirits saying, “There’s no amount of practice that would help me become a good drummer.” It’s more about pride and how the musician is more likely to be mistaken for the younger actor as opposed to the other way around.
See them talk about their ‘rivalry’ here:
The drum-off was raising money for Cancer for College and Little Kids Rock, making it all more appealing since it was done for charity. The winner of this battle is to take home a golden cowbell, which refers to Ferrell’s one SNL sketch ‘More Cowbell’. Smith also said that they had made another bet. “If I win, he has to wash my car for a month and give me pedicures,” the drummer said. “If I lose, I have to be his stand-in for his next film.”

Seems like either way the results were going to be hilarious. They wore matching outfits to make their resemblance even more obvious for all watching. Both contestants performed four solos each and it’s not hard to figure out who arose victorious. To celebrate the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers joined them at the end for “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” Fallon is known for his hilarious and odd stunts on his show, but he’s definitely proving to be a breath of fresh air to this program with continuously silly, but fun ideas.
