The media’s use of visual communication is on the rise. Static infographics and digital weather maps have given way to rich, interactive data visualizations. Journalists and mediamakers like Jer Thorp, Data Artist in Residence at The New York Times, are taking “dataviz,” as it’s known in the industry, to a whole new level with beautiful pieces like this visualization of the words “regulation” and “innovation” in the NYT since 1981.
