We are thrilled to have a partner like Nokia at Social Media Week who embodies the desire to explore, understand, and maximize our new levels of connectivity. In each of our eight cities this year, you will find Nokia present with unbelievable installations and innovative content for the events they are hosting. Oh, and they will also be throwing many of our Opening and Closing night parties- bound to be two epic nights.
Given what they’ve done in the past (recall our Silent Disco or holograms with them?), you don’t want to miss out. Here’s your guide of where to find Nokia’s awesome work at Social Media Week — wherever you are.
Nokia provides many intrinsic parts of the SMW NYC experience, beginning with the Nokia Big Board: screens posted throughout campus with times and locations of all current happenings and anything important you need to know to help you get around and experience the awesome.
Underpinning everything though is the NOW Studio powered by Nokia Lumia, where short-form video artists will be creating videos and teaching their skills to anyone who wants to learn stop motion, claymation, comedy and more.
Check it out, and submit your own videos to #NOWStudio and enter a chance to win a Lumia 2520, Monster in-ear headphones and more.
Need to get away for a minute to make a private call without 1000 voices in the background? On the ground floor you will find Nokia Work Pods so that you can steal away to make calls, check emails or do some writing–all in quiet privacy.
And that’s not all. Thanks to Nokia, we have been able to offer scholarships to Social Media Week to hundreds of students, entrepreneurs, and non-profit employees, making sure SMW stays accessible!
Nokia will be present in Lagos, providing thought leadership in the social media spaces. Through their seminar, #NOKIAEDU: This Phone Changed the World! How Mobile Technology is Driving Innovation and Development in Africa, they will be looking at the future of the content and the ways that mobile is a part of that. And if you forget the charger for your mobile, don’t worry. Nokia will have charging stations around the venue to keep you connected.
And while you are charging your device, take a few photos in the Nokia photo booth. Through their installation and the wealth of helpful information in their masterclasses and other sessions, Nokia is definitely bringing it in Lagos.
In Bangalore, Nokia is working to increase opportunities for women. With sessions like “Women in Media” by Nokia’s Poonam Kaul and a screening of the film Girl Rising, Nokia is working to make tech and the workplace more equitable. If you are in Bangalore, make sure to check out their other sessions on mobile apps and how to measure/maximize your social ROI.
In Milan, Nokia’s NOW Studio will be making another appearance. There will be a group of expert photographers and video makers leading workshops to help you hone and perfect your skills.
In their event sessions, they will be exploring what technology means for the future of our work and of our cities. Also, be sure to check out the new Nokia devices that will be displayed around the venue and take a few pictures! It’s all about seeing Nokia in action in Italy.
Even if you can’t make it to Social Media Week, Nokia is powering livestream of sessions from our cities around the world, including Copenhagen, Hamburg and Tokyo. They also help keep you connected through our new Official Networking App. So wherever you are- make sure to check out Nokia at SMW and maybe share a few pictures. Festivities begin on Monday. See you there!
