You may be hurting your retirement goals by not considering all the factors when choosing a 401k. If you base your decision only on performance your return on investment may suffer.
According to the Center for American Progress, even a small difference in fees can lead to a huge impact at retirement. A high fee investment (1.3% of assets) could delay retirement four or more years when compared to a low fee plan (0.25% of assets). Those tiny percentages add up over time.
Companies make it hard to find fees when comparing plans, so don’t hesitate to contact the companies directly or work with HR at your company to find out the fees. Check out their infographic below to see some of the data.
