Best executed Bellini, touch of bubbles and a whole new take on brioche buns- you’re missing out on Mayfair’s hidden gem. Make your way to this glamorous bar in London’s Mayfair; Cartizze will not disappoint cocktails lovers and night-time explorers. Make sure you put on your best clothes and drink in style at this luxury watering hole.
In Three Words: Opulent, Glamorous, Seductive
The Lowdown: Mayfair has an abundance of hot-spots to spend your evenings (and cash), but make sure you don’t miss the special gem Cartizze, hidden away in the little alley of Lancashire Court. Cobbled, brimming with tables and candlelight, it might be easy to walk past – which would be a crying shame, as this gorgeous Bellini bar is a real treat.
As soon as you step into the interior of this luxurious, oak panelled bar and spot the authentic, twinkling glassware, you know you’re in good hands. The place positively exudes class, style, and the promise of a good cocktail.
Your Plus One: Someone to tell your most intimate secrets to – it’s the kind of place where you’re seduced by the glamour and the atmosphere. Also, that friend obsessed with Agatha Christie, who appreciates the heady days of the roaring twenties. You’ll wish you’d worn your flapper dress.
The Decor: Dimly lit with enticing candlelight, this is the epitome of glamour. Sit on low leather couches or higher tables and enjoy a bit of Frank in the background, while you gaze avidly at the shimmering glassware. The Nero Marquina marble fireplace, soft lilacs and blues, and back room with its beautiful pieces of artwork all add to the luxury.
Cocktail Highlights: You can’t come here and not try a Bellini – after all, Cartizze is named after the Prosecco vineyards, so bubbles have to be on the cards. The Blood Orange version was a revelation – with more depth and richness than a standard mimosa, it filled our mouths with a burst of orange that makes it evident they create their own syrups. We also couldn’t fault the Barrel Aged Negroni.
Something to Soak Up the Booze: For a place this gorgeous, the food has to offer something special – and luckily the choice of apertivo perfectly complements the drinks. We loved the Hand Dived Orkney Isles Scallops and Smoked Pancetta Brioche Buns – as mouth-wateringly superb as they sound.
Burning a Hole? At the end of the day, this is Mayfair and the quality with which the cocktails are produced, in such a stunning setting, warrants the higher price-tag. At between £12 and £14, cocktails are a bit more expensive, but it’s worth it as a treat. And with a cabinet of some of the most exclusive liquors around, you could spend a whole lot more.
Overall: Make sure you don’t simply wander by this beautiful little oasis of glamour – you’d be really missing out on a chance to drink some of the best-executed Bellini we’ve tried. And trust us – an evening trying their apertivo, complete with a bespoke cocktail, will make for a night you won’t forget in some time.
