When students are pursuing their education, one of the primary aims of mostly all students is to get a good job after they are done with their education. The recent survey of physiatrists has shown that more and more people are getting frustrated from their jobs. So, not only the people without any job are frustrated, but also the ones who have jobs. So, what are the core reasons of being frustrated by your jobs, and how to tackle this frustration and anxiety?
- Chasing money rather than interest
It would be simply insane to enter a career with no scope at all (at least in the near future), and then hope for a high paying job. But another important thing is your personal interest in your chosen field of study. A friend of mine entered into fine arts, against all odds, and ended up working for a well renowned museum. So, you should seek for scope, but not in a field that you would never prefer going if the element of money is eradicated from the equation.
- Always Being the “I Can Do It on Myself” Guy
Social interaction is one of the foundation stones in job satisfaction and motivation. According to a survey of US Labor Recruitment, 18% of employees in the US leave their job due to conflict with their colleagues or noncooperation. Many people like to do their jobs on their own and do not encourage external interference, but sometimes it is good to have it. If you become totally isolated with your work, the workload can reduce your motivation. However, if you have scratched the back of your other colleagues, then they might prove handy when you need some support. It is often advised to ask for suggestions and feedbacks, even from your subordinates. This is not to judge your work, but just to connect with others, and make others feel privileged and valued. When people will connect with you, respect you, then your job might be tiring, but it won’t drive you to frustration.
- Monotonous Work
I left my first company due to the repetition of the task I had to do daily, 6 days a week, and 8 hours daily. My job was limited to Antenna monitoring, and it was all done through remote servers installed on my laptop. So, all I had to do was to monitor the signals and then run a refresh program if any error message has been indicated. The first thing was that my job became boring to me, even though it was related to both my interest and field. The second thing, which was my mistake that I never tried to indulge with other departments; despite there were no restrictions for it. As my work become monotonous, I started getting apart from it, and my job interest was overdone by my job frustration. So, when you look for a job, do try to get an idea from the former or present employees about the job nature, and what roles they have to do on a daily basis when they are at work.
Thus it can be said that if people seek for interest and passoin and not just monetary returns when seeking their jobs, and build social relations in the workplace, then they can better cope with the stresses and anxieites related to jobs.
