It has happened to all of us. So often, attention-grabbing and shareable content doesn’t provide value, and we regret clicking. As for the organizations that create the content, we lose trust in them for misleading us.

Creating good content is like walking a tightrope. You have to balance high-quality information with content that’s interesting and will inspire people to share.

An infographic from Insights in Marketing lists 10 tips for creating content that can walk that fine line. Here are a few of them:

1. Make your content educational. Ninety-four percent of people say they share educational content from organizations with their networks.

2. Reveal your sources. Forty-nine percent of the people who read your content will check your facts. If you list where you got your information, you’ll build trust with your readers.

3. Don’t make a sales pitch. Thirty percent of consumers say that if content even briefly mentions a product or service, they lose trust in the organization that created it.

4. Stay true to your brand. Ninety-two percent of consumers say they want to do business with organizations whose values align with theirs. Create content that interests consumers yet reflects what your organization believes in.
