HOW TO WEAR YOUR LIPS THIS SEASON

I don’t know about you but I adore Autumn. It is such a magical season; crunchy leaves underfoot, bright yellows, reds and the surreptitious reappearance of scarves and boots. All against a brooding sky. Makeup-wise, Autumn provides a great opportunity to pack away the playful brights of Spring and Summer and turn to more grown-up makeup.

One of the quickest ways to embrace Autumn/Fall makeup is to ditch the eye shadow and concentrate instead on a deep, bold lip or warm peach/nude. The bright pinks and oranges of Summer are spilling over into Autumn but their shades are noticeably deeper and warmer.

Whether you prefer a matte, glossy or more of a tinted balm finish, any texture goes this season. The secret with this year’s fall lip is to remember to wear them slightly undone. No perfect lip lines here.

Key lip shades to be wearing this AW14:
Deep burgundy
Cherry red
Warm nude
Russet orange/peach
Fuchsia

How to wear them:
Apply directly from the bullet or using a lip brush to clean, exfoliated lips. Blot. Apply a second coat. Blot again. Take your finger or a cotton bud and soften your lip line. This will give your lip colour a less preened edge. Finally press your lips together and you’re good to go.
