Hang w/ is a mobile live streaming app we first covered back in November, and according to the service, it’s seeing up to 250x higher fan engagement than major social networks.

The app enables users to host short three to nine minute live broadcasts, and share them to their social media accounts.

Here’s how Hang w/ defined its metrics:

“The metrics compared the percentage of Hang w/ celebrity followers who “Tune In” to a celebrity’s broadcast versus the percentage of followers of the same celebrities who “like,” “favorite,” “retweet,” “comment,” and “share” on the major social media platforms.”

And the findings?

  • 5x higher engagement compared to Facebook “likes”
  • 19x higher engagement compared to Instagram comments
  • 153x higher engagement compared to Twitter favorites
  • 195x higher engagement compared to Twitter retweets
  • 250x higher engagement compared to Facebook shares

“Hang w/ is proving to be a powerful platform for fan engagement. We’ve always believed live broadcasts are far more exciting to a fan than reading 140 characters, viewing an image or even watching a video. And now the analytics show it to be overwhelmingly true.”

While we’d like to see exactly how Hang w/ got those numbers, the mobile app has managed to get on the radar of over 100 celebrities from 50 Cent to Cheech and Chong.
