The general rule is that the text on your cover photo should be limited to 20% of the total space. However, it can now include call-to-action, email address and other relevant information. You can also include an arrow or icon that draws attention to the tabs located right below the image on your Facebook page.

Facebook recommends also making the images sRGB JPG file and less than 100kbs. It allows the fan page to load the image quicker.

Use Your Profile Picture Wisely

Now that you have the option of displaying images via your cover photos, it is better to reserve the profile picture for creating and building brand identity. Your brand logo is the best option that can be used as your profile picture as it helps reinforce your brand identity every time you make a post.

Combined together with a creative cover image, this logo can be used as a powerful brand building tool. However, before you upload your logo as your profile picture, make sure that it is square and 180 x 180 pixels in size to fit its box perfectly.

Optimize the About Section on Your Page

The About section of your Facebook page should be updated and optimized regularly to incorporate new keywords. The most important part of this section is the “Short Description” you have to include, which will appear right below your profile picture on your page. A screenshot is below of BHGRE Canada’s:

This should be focused and concise and it must include a URL to your website. Next, focus on four other sections on this page: Company Overview, Description, General Information and Mission. Therefore, make sure to complete all these sections to optimize your page in the best way possible.

Always Look Out for New Features

Facebook has introduced several new features for businesses. It offered the hashtags feature after they were used successfully on Twitter to provide businesses more leverage on their different marketing campaigns. With more changes expected this year, you should keep up with new innovations through the platform’s official blog and optimize your Facebook business page accordingly. Following these steps can ensure that the information about your business on your page is recent and relevant and guarantee that you are making use of all features of Facebook perfectly.
