The 18th annual Webby Awards honoring excellence on the Internet is just around the corner. The nominees are in and there’s just a week left to cast your vote for the best of the Web.
“This year’s Nominees really start to show the promise of a connected society where our social interactions help shape and enable so much of our daily life,” David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards, said in a statement. “We are excited to share these outstanding works with the world and see which ones the public will choose as Webby Winners.”
Website nominees include: The New York Times, Medium, Tumblr, National Film Board of Canada, and The Guardian‘s NSA Files Decoded.
Nominees for the Interactive Media and Advertising include: Dodge Durango spot featuring Will Ferrell’s “Ron Burgundy” (Wieden & Kennedy); Volvo’s “The Epic Split” featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme’s amazing feat (Forsman & Bodenfors); Dove’s “Real Beauty Sketches” (Ogilvy Brasil); and Chipotle’s”The Scarecrow” (Creative Artists Agency).
Nominees for overall social presence include: GoPro, The Ellen Degeneres Show, BuzzFeed, The New York Times and the Human Rights Project.
Other categories include Most Talked About Celebrity, Best Writing (editorial), Best Individual Performance, Best User Experience, Best Online Film & Best Writing, Best Use of Interactive Video and Weird.
The New York Times, Google, Funny or Die, Vice Media, NPR, PBS and BBC have all be nominated in multiple categories.
To cast your influence on the Webby Awards, visit the People’s Voice page, pick a category and sign up to vote. Voting ends April 24 at 11:59 PST. The winners will be announced at the Webby Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 19, 2014, and the show will be available online the following day.
