1. REVIEW YOUR RESUME

How long is your resume?  The ideal resume should be no longer than two pages.  The main reason for this is that a potential recruiter does not have the time and effort to read through a long resume especially when the average number of resumes per job is 60.  Look over your resume and ensure it is up to date including most recent achievements.  Take a look on the internet and find a resume template that will help you get the format right.

2. CHECK YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE

On LinkedIn?  If not, why not?  If you want potential employers to take notice of you, you need to be signed up to relevant forums and be involved.  If you do already have an> online presence, have a look!

3. HAVE A MOCK INTERVIEW

It may sound a bit cringe worthy, getting someone you know to interview you, but it is worthwhile doing.  Practice with your friends and family and get their feedback.  Even get your friends and family to ask you >tough questions to help you deal with them in real life situations.

4. HAVE ANSWERS TO KEY QUESTIONS

Once you have undertaken some prep work, think about what you would like to achieve in your next career move and what you would like from work.  Spend time to think about the following questions:

What are your interests?
What thing do you get so focused and devoted to, that you quickly lose the time.  This is a clue to what your interests are.

What are your achievements in life?
What have you achieved in both work and your personal life?  With these achievements, what barriers did you have to overcome?  What did you enjoy the most?

5. USE HASHTAGS ON TWITTER

There are plenty of hashtags you can use to search for jobs on Twitter such as #jobsearch.  Alternatively build up contact on Twitter with the companies you would be interested in working with.  Showing an interest in their products and service will keep you at the forefront of their mind.

6. SEND YOUR RESUME TO COMPANIES

Once you have made contact to companies on Twitter and have used a >resume template to create the perfect resume, send them to companies of interest.

7. LOOK AT BOARDS ON LINKEDIN

You are setting yourself up to land yourself a successful job in the New Year.  In the meantime take a look at job boards on LinkedIn and see a range of jobs that are currently available in your chosen industry.

These seven tips should add a bit of clarity and show you a better route to finding a job on social media.
