#winning: Review of Whaleo

I’m not much of a gamer, but I will say that when I do play them, I want to win. I mean come on, who doesn’t get a little bit competitive. The only problem with games though, is that when they’re over, they’re over. The satisfaction of winning is too short lived. Well, what if there was a game never stopped? What if you could win at life in a game?

NEWSFLASH: you can. Introducing whaleo, (pronounced way-lee-oh) the app/game that lets users compete with their friends and family at living.

Before I say more, watch the whaleo commercial.

Did you watch it? Did you love it? I did.

Just like the video, the app keeps it simple with a clean interface, and straightforward buttons and colors.

So how does it work exactly? The goal is to get as many points as possible. How do you score points?
Go to a bar; +15 points.
Go to the beach; +17 points.
See a live show; +27 points.

The list goes on and on. Just take a picture to prove that you’re not a cheater, and share it with your friends.

Here’s where it gets fun. Make it a competition. Start a game versus a friend and see who can complete 5 randomly selected achievements first. The winner gets boosted, allowing friends in your mobile community get to see where you rank compared to themselves.

Whaleo works like any of your other social networks. When you share a picture, others have the ability to comment on it or like it, just like Facebook or Instagram. This is probably my favorite aspect of the app, as it allows you to choose who you want to compete against.

Download it, tell your friends, and start playing. Game on.
