Web Summit, often referred to as the SXSW of Europe, is the continent’s biggest tech conference. Held in Dublin, this year’s conference features entrepreneurs, developers and investors from all over the world gathering to network, vie for funding and learn from over 350 speakers from every tech sector. Speakers include Elon Musk of Tesla, SpaceX and Solar City; pro skateboarder and philanthropist Tony Hawk; Padmasree Warrior, CTSO of Cisco; Drew Houston, Co-Founder and CEO of Dropbox; and Phil Libin, CEO of Evernote. Additionally, big-name, innovative companies like Google, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft and Cisco will attend the conference to exhibit their latest products and services.
97 countries will be represented at this year’s Web Summit, along with 872 early state startups in sectors like enterprise, e-commerce, education and mobile. Entrepreneurs make up 33% of this year’s conference attendees, startups account for 25% and investors make up 7%. As you can see in the chart below, Web Summit is growing extremely fast: 9,834 people are attending this year’s conference compared to 3,903 in 2012, 1,570 in 2011 and 450 in 2010.
