WWE Diva Trish Stratus is no longer wrestling, but that doesn’t mean the yoga guru, and occasional action movie actress, doesn’t have something to say about the organization that made her famous.

Following the three-woman corner slam at Night of Champions 2014, Stratus has opened up about her desire for an increased role of women in the WWE. She recalls, “I got to get in the ring with The Rock and Kurt Angle… Big Show tossed me over the top ropes. Certainly, those things all resonate with the fans.”

Women wrestling men would have the added effect of pairing off some real life married couples against one another. Could you imagine Daniel Bryan heading into the ring to square off against his wife, Brie Bella? Perhaps John Cena and Nikki Bella could settle any lingering marital differences in the ring. We could even witness some tag team action from husband and wife teams.

Trish Stratus has her own group of supporters. Last year Dolph Ziggler was asked if he would support a WWE man vs. woman singles match against AJ Lee. Ziggler admitted that he had zero problems with the concept.  “It would be incredible. If this was a different day and age where the Divas were allowed to step into the ring with the Superstars,” Ziggler said. “Man, I would find a way to make that so entertaining one way or another. I bet it would even wind up being people’s favorite match of the show.”

Trish Stratus would also like to see more character development among WWE women. “Right now you see the girls with the girls, which is fine, but you can only do so much with the same characters. Unfortunately, they don’t have super developed characters at the moment… The potential is there because there’s some great workers. That’s what we had at the moment things shifted for us. We had the right things.”

Speaking to CBS News, Stratus also says that WWE women have failed to create interesting and engaging characters. “Right now you see the girls with the girls, which is fine, but you can only do so much with the same characters. Unfortunately, they don’t have super developed characters at the moment,” she said.  “The potential is there because there’s some great workers. That’s what we had at the moment things shifted for us. We had the right things.”

Do you think Trish Stratus is correct in her assessment of today’s WWE Divas and the need for men versus women matches?
