“Star Wars” fans like to take a little time each year on May 4 to say to anyone who will listen (mainly their Twitter followers and Facebook friends) “May the 4th be with you.” Or, if you happen to be working at Boston.com on May 4, you post a photo of Chewbacca throwing out the first pitch at Fenway in 2005, then you share a link to a video from the funny folks at CollegeHumor that finds artists like Chris Daughtry, Ben Folds, Jordin Sparks, Rick Springfield, Lisa Loeb, Weird Al Yankovic and others playing characters auditioning for Mos Eisley’s famed Cantina Band. Yahoo Movies Fans everywhere celebrated unofficial Star Wars Day aka May 4. From watching all-day marathons of the movies to dressing up as their favorite characters to just sitting at home and remembering the first time they saw “A New Hope,” there were plenty of ways to enjoy the day. Here are six of our favorites. The Wire The “holiday,” once celebrated in the quiet shame of one’s own home, is having something of a public resurgence thanks to multiple Star Wars hashtags and trend lines dominating social media sites. And, of course, the brands are even getting into the act. NBC News One four-second clip, by the way, has more than 1.75 million views on YouTube. The site has also proved fertile ground for “Star Wars” mash-ups, with the Internet’s creative geniuses slapping it together with everything from “Game of Thrones” to the mall-friendly landscapes of Thomas Kinkade.
