Seven Cities Across Four Continents Kick Off Social Media Week 2015

“One of The Most Digitally Connected, Multi-Cultural Conferences In The World”

Today, #SMW15 kicks off in seven cities with more than one thousand speakers, including Martha Stewart and Rev. Jesse Jackson, and thirty thousand people in attendance over the week long event.  Host cities include New York, where the event first started back in 2009, together with Milan, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Bangalore, Jakarta and Lagos.

The theme for the 2015 conference is “Upwardly Mobile: The Rise Of The Connected Class”, which will unfold as a year long examination of how technology will impact that way we live, work and create in a connected world, and how new ideas, innovations and break-through technologies will lead to meaningful changes in our lives.

There are more than one thousand speakers participating in the conference in February.  Featured speakers include:

  • Veronica Diquattro of Spotify Italy, discusses music discovery in the digital age
  • Copenhagen’s Kasper Risbjerg of DigitasLBI, gives a talk on employee advocacy
  • Professor Frauke Zeller takes the stage in Hamburg with hitchBOT, his cross-country hitch-hiking robot
  • In Jakarta, BuzzFeed’s International VP Scott Lamb, shares his thoughts on virality and stories you can’t resist sharing
  • Lagos welcomes JayJay Okocha, Ex-Super Captain of Lagos Super Eagles, who will discuss social media in Nigerian football
  • Actress and comedian Aditi Mittal, will talk about social media bloopers in Bangalore
