Nigeria’s Boko Haram pledges allegiance to ISIS




The leader of Boko Haram, an Islamic extremist group in Nigeria, reportedly pledged formal allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) in an audio recording released on Twitter Saturday, according to SITE Intelligence Group.

The message comes as Boko Haram members gather in the northeastern town of Gwoza in Nigeria for an expected showdown with a multinational force, including soldiers from Chad, Nigeria and Cameroon. Boko Haram, which has been connected to multiple attacks in Nigeria and Chad, has been trying to align itself with ISIS for some time.
