Coffee is the lifeblood of many offices, so you might want to prepare a fresh brew if it’s been sitting out for a few hours. But how do you know when it’s time to fire up the machine again? All you need to keep track is two styrofoam cups.
As you can see in the image above, you just write the hours of the day around the rim of one cup, and a downward-facing arrow on the rim of another. Stack them upside down, and ask that everyone turn the arrow to the current time whenever they use the coffee maker. You could even add additional cups to the stack if you wanted to track things like who made the coffee, and what beans they used. The system relies on self-policing, but if everyone’s on board, it’s as effective as it needs to be.
