During Microsoft’s Australian Partner Conference this week, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Devices, Stephen Elop, announced to conference attendees Microsoft’s plans to mass produce Perceptive Pixel displays, their large-screen touch devices. The 55-inch displays currently retail around $ 7,500, but Microsoft hopes to lower that price.
The long-term implications of this move will likely come from developers that release applications intended for the large-touch screen displays, primarily used for meetings, conferences, news segments, sports broadcasts, and other entertainment programming.
Elop’s announcement in Australia did not include all of the details, which means everyone will have to stay tuned for future updates regarding its pricing, distribution, capabilities, and features. This announcement comes two years after Microsoft purchased Perceptive Pixel.
