Infographic: Signs people still love email


Ninety-percent of people check their inboxes compulsively, and 46 percent spend more than an hour reading emails.

Do you remember when you used email to forward chain letters to everyone on your contact list, because if you didn’t send the email to 10 people within 15 minutes, you would have bad luck for the rest of your life?

Thankfully, email has come a long way, an infographic from myMail reports.

While 77 percent of people use email for personal reasons and 45 percent use it for business, people also use email to learn about products (43 percent), receive discounts (42 percent) and get news (41 percent).

The infographic also reveals:

  • When people check their email (74 percent check it first thing in the morning; 90 percent check it compulsively).
  • How many emails people receive (50 percent get more than 21 emails a day).
  • How much time people spend in their inboxes (46 percent spend more than 1 hour a day reading email).
