The Federal Trade Commission will decide after the presidential election whether to sue Google for antitrust violation, Washington insider publication The Hill reports.
The commission has booked meetings with representatives from Google and its competitors through November, making any formal decision prior to the election unlikely, according to the Hill.
The FTC’s interest in Google has focused on its promotion of its other services, such as Zagat reviews, YouTube videos and Google+-linked content, in its search results. Similar services offered by other companies allegedly receive lower rankings.
The European Union has pursued a case against Google based on the same practices. Earlier this week, Google reportedly offered to identify for European users which search results linked to its own products.
