Fanhattan has released a completely redesigned version of its Fan TV app on iPhone, giving users an updated way to find and save the movies and shows they’d like to watch later, or receive alerts when those items become available for viewing on the services they already use, including Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.
This update was inspired by the way the app’s users engaged with the previous iPhone app, compared to the iPad version.
Fan TV founder and CEO, Gilles BianRosa, said in a recent blog post:
While iPad users are three times more likely to watch a show or movie on their tablets, iPhone users are far more likely to use the smaller screen in their pocket for day-to-day searches and 24/7 management of their entertainment lives.
With this in mind, the new Fan TV iPhone experience focuses on major categories, including “New to Rent,” “Now Streaming,” and “New to Own,” among others. Each lists the appropriate film and TV options, with each movie or show presented as a hub of content, including Metacritic and Rotten Tomato scores (where applicable), cast and crew listings, information on renting, purchasing or streaming the item digitally, and more.
As the category suggests, the Now Streaming section of the app features a list of items available to stream via at least one platform, from Netflix and Hulu Plus to HBO Now. Users can search for content directly, watch trailers, browse films opening in theaters this week and view a list of films available for free, without a subscription (like through Crackle).
The new Fan TV experience is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store.
