After coming out of a dull, grey winter we’re looking to add some shine and gloss to our ravaged locks, and nowhere could be better than a Gina Conway salon. Offering hair and spa treatments, the ethos of these dens of tranquility are that they are ‘Lifestyle salons’ – meaning that not only will you glow on the outside, but will feel spiritually cleansed, too. The therapeutic options range from Reiki or Chakra Massages to the luscious sounding Shiodara Treatment, where not only is warm oil cascaded through the scalp, but a foot massage and face cleanse are included for true top-to-toe relaxation. We tried the Botanical Hair therapy with essential oils, where we experienced a chance to let the cares of the world drift away thanks to aromatherapy. After choosing which scent most appealed to us (we went for lavender), our scalp was massaged, then given a deep conditioning treatment with Aveda products that included the likes of quinoa protein to help strengthen. With arms and hand massages throughout the process, we left feeling more de-stressed than if we’d been wrapped in cotton wool and serenaded by Enya, and with shining locks that were now 96% strengthened thanks to botanical therapy.

There are four salons to choose from, including Chelsea and Wimbledon, and you can experience ultimate relaxation yourself by perusing  Gina Conway Salon.

Roses are red, violets are blue – but who needs violets when rose is so good for you? The Rose Cocoon Treatment at The Dorchester is an opportunity to transform into a cleansed, buffed and glowing spring-time butterfly. Making the most of the relaxing properties of the petals, Aromatherapy Associates rose essential oils will transport you to a quintessential english garden on a sun-kissed afternoon. It begins with an invigorating exfoliation using a gentle scrub that contains tiny pieces of olive grain, where dull skin is shed and the life is brought back into those summer-starved limbs. After a quick shower you will then be enveloped with warm rose gel, oil and cream – the essential oil of damask rose works on capillary circulation, renewing the skin, while a head and scalp massage adds to the tranquility. The result? A calmer, more serene spirit, and shining skin that is just begging for skirt weather.

The Rose Cocoon is sixty minutes of petal-empowering bliss and costs £120 – for more information visit The Dorchester Collection.

We can feel summer on the horizon – and see it in the daffodils gracing grassy verges – so thoughts naturally turn to holidays and, possibly, the prospect of baring all on the beach. Whether you want to kick start a healthy eating regime, shift a few pounds, or simply inject a feeling of purity into your body, then cleanses are all the rage. And one of the exciting new kids on the block is Moroccan Cleanse. We love the idea that following their plan will create ‘the sense of well-being, relaxation and plenitude that you would feel at the end of a holiday in Morocco’, and their cold-pressed juices really are superb. Tasting fabulous (and not simply like a bunch of vegetables that have been liquidated just for health benefits), their cold-pressed method is also the best way to keep the integrity of the ingredients. Our favourite? The Cactus Deluxe – a vibrant green taste-sensation that can also aid hangovers. A peruse of their website demonstrates how they’re different to a lot of other cleanses on the market – there’s a gratifying focus on inner contentment and spiritual wellbeing that we love. Plus, there are several levels of detox depending on your cleanse-experience.

Check out the Moroccan Cleanse site for more detox information.
