Android: The day has finally arrived: Amazon Prime Instant Video customers can now watch their shows on Android phones and tablets. All within the official Amazon app.
Amazon has updated its main Android app with a slew of new features, not the least of which is the ability to install apps from the Amazon Appstore (making the existing Appstore somewhat redundant?). You can also browse the entire Prime video library from the Amazon app and, if you care to watch a show, you’ll be prompted to install Prime Instant Video, also through the main Amazon app.
This is a much-needed consolidation, as it’s been somewhat silly that Amazon hasn’t released Instant Video for Android users. The method for installing it is a little roundabout (though less so than a whole second app store), but who cares? We can finally watch our movies on the tablet now.
