A Gender Balanced Focus at SMW13: Event Guide


A major focus here at Social Media Week is working towards our goal of achieving Gender 50/50 by the end of 2014. This is a steadfast commitment to continually strive for a 50/50 balance in all our activities and in all cities. From our Advisory Boards to event hosts to speakers, we want SMW to be truly balanced in our representation of both women AND men.

We’ve challenged you, our community, and our local organizers to help us present a more balanced and diverse representation at each SMW. We know it takes more than just good intentions and it won’t happen overnight. But we are happy with the progress we’re making. Some cities have risen to the challenge, presenting a fully balanced SMW13. Others are still working hard to make this a reality for their city. We can’t make this goal without each of them and you. We are excited to present a wonderful lineup for Gender 50/50 this September.

These events are ones that have either been curated to help put more women in the spotlight, focus on issues pertinent to women, or are fully balanced in their approach. While not fully inclusive, these are some of the best.
