There is measurably increased impact of visual content on social media. The most engaging posts on Facebook are photos. Twitter’s timeline now accommodates photos and videos, and its recent profile pages update features larger header photos and profile pictures. Pinterest is the fourth most popular social networking site.
But while nearly half of all bloggers are creating content with multiple images, 25 percent of them aren’t adding images to their posts.
Visual content grabs attention, is processed faster by the brain, generates more engagement and influences emotions. Images of products make them far more effective for retail ads than text-based ads.
